ABOUT THE FARMER
I was born in 1999 and raised in Oliver BC my whole life. My earliest childhood memories involve me running and playing around the orchard. Agriculture has been in my roots for many generations. My father started his orchard career in 1995 and I have been helping him since I was a young child. During my childhood, I did everything I could to be of assistance, whether it was irrigation work, picking up baskets, making boxes or even picking fruit. Through high school, my responsibility grew; this included shipping fruit, tractor work, and running the harvest. My background has been heavily ingrained with farming. As I proceed with college education, my heart wants to stay involved with farming for my whole life.

After many years of searching for a life passion, I realized it was right in my backyard. Ever since I was 5, I genuinely enjoyed working in the orchard and that feeling never went away. I love waking up and going to the farm to work hard and produce quality fruit. Farming has become my greatest passion, I am learning and improving everyday. I have noticed the majority of farmers are getting older in the Okanagan and there aren’t many young farmers replacing them. This opportunity made me decide to pursue a career in farming sooner than later.

My future farming dreams include being a sustainable and innovative grower. As a young farmer, I can apply new ideas and concepts to the orchard, while improving older concepts. Personally, my farming dream would be growing quality cherries and shipping them to open international markets. I would also want to be involved with the fruit industry, as a director or a BCFGA member, as that shows commitment to the lifestyle. Although my background is heavily involved with the production of fruit, I am open to an operation of a vineyard/winery. In the South Okanagan, grape production has really become popular and I am interested in diversifying in the wine industry. While I finish my Business Degree, I can apply my school knowledge directly to the business aspect of farming. In conclusion, my dream is to become a successful grower/packer in the Okanagan Fruit Industry.
LAND REQUIREMENTS
I am looking for land in the Okanagan suitable for Cherries or Wine grapes. Land criteria for a vineyard would include sandy or rocky soil with good drainage and possibly sloped if applicable. The size of the land can range anywhere between 6-15 acres. I am interested in land ranging anywhere between Osoyoos and Naramata. Land criteria for cherries would include mostly all types of soil except sand, having good drainage would also be a great addition to grow quality cherries. The location of the land can range between Osoyoos to Kelowna and Creston as well. The land size can vary from 10-25 acres. In terms of water, a well on the property is needed with approximately 150gpm.
