The Edible Garden Project and Loutet Farm have two summer student positions available for a Farm and Garden Education Assistant & a Farm Hand!

ABOUT THE EDIBLE GARDEN PROJECT

The Edible Garden Project (EGP) is a program of North Shore Neighbourhood House. The EGP is actively increasing land used for food production, building knowledge and skills around food gardening and working with municipalities to increase opportunities for urban agriculture.

Edible Garden Project

STUDENT FARM HAND POSITION

The Student Farm Hand supports the farming programs of the Edible Garden Project, which includes Loutet Farm, Sutherland Market Garden and local community gardens. This position reports to the Farm Coordinator and EGP Program Manager, while working collaboratively with the entire EGP team. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about food security and environmental sustainability initiatives. The student must be returning to school in the fall, age 15-30.

JOB TASKS

Responsibilities:

  • Day to day farms operations and maintenance
  • Assist with tracking revenue at farm gate sales and community markets
  • Assist with event promotions and community engagement
  • Assist with volunteer coordination

JOB DETAILS

Contract term: May – September

Hours: 35 hours/week

Wage: $17/hour

ELIGIBILITY: Student returning to school in the fall, age 15-30.

The Garden Education Assistant will support the educational programming of the Edible Garden Project at Loutet Farm, Sutherland Market Garden, childcare gardens and local community gardens. This position reports to the Education Coordinator and EGP Program Manager, while working collaboratively with the entire EGP team. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about food security and environmental education.

  • Assist with event promotions and community activities

Hours: 25-35 hours/week
