Ferme et Forêt in Wakefield, Quebec is seeking an Ecological Farm Worker!
ABOUT Ferme et Forêt
The largest part of our business is maple syrup. We tap 2800 trees, and make the syrup into several additional products, such as maple butter. We also grow shiitake mushrooms on logs in the forest, as well as other mushroom species, including winecap. We harvest a lot of wild growing apples in the fall and turn them into sweet cider and vinegar. We also harvest some other wild foods, such as sumac, which we turn into a juice. We also have a flock of 100 laying hens, and grow some asparagus and berries. Our farm is 150 acres, 10 minutes from the vibrant village of Wakefield, 30 minutes from Ottawa. We sell mostly from our farmstand and a weekly farmers’ market.
We follow organic guidelines, but are not certified. We’re pretty small-scale and focused on direct sales.
