ABOUT The Plot Market Garden
We are a productive market garden operating on 1 acre and currently expanding into another acre down the road. We are mainly producing greens to grocery stores and restaurants, as well as other mixed vegetables for a CSA program of 45 shares. Our farm is located in Saanich, just 30 mins from downtown Victoria and Sidney in a residential area, surrounded by forest and adjacent to a wetlands.
We use a BCS, tilther, quick cut greens harvester, paper pot, as well as a precision hoe and some hand weeding. We work hard but also like to have fun listening to music and offer paid lunch breaks with lunch included.
We have a small female-led team that consists of us (Emily and Tyler, owners/operators), and three others who each work one-three days a week.
Our farm is regenerative (non-certified organic), with a big focus on high value crops and bio-intensive/high productivity, which means a lot of bed flipping, washing greens and produce, and bagging. We add compost and use organic fertilizers and are starting to get into cover crops as we expand.
DESIRED QUALITIES
We are looking for a hard working, team player who is motivated to learn and willing to switch up jobs which includes working in the field, washing and bagging produce, and doing deliveries.
JOB TASKS
Bed preparation, seeding, harvesting, washing produce, packing produce, packing CSA bags, and delivery driving.
JOB DETAILS
Term: Starting ASAP!
Hours per week: 30 – 40 hours per week, including paid lunch break with lunch included.
Wage: $18 – $20 per hour, depending on experience. Perks include paid lunch break with lunch included and vegetables.
