Sea Bluff Farm in Metchosin (near Victoria, BC) is looking for another member to help them finish up the season on a high.  They’ve got a bountiful field of crops to bring in!

ABOUT SEA BLUFF FARM

We are a 6-acre diverse vegetable farm located in Metchosin, a sweet rural enclave outside Victoria. While we grow a lot of greens and high value crops, we are most excited about really feeding people with our potatoes, squashes and brassicas. We grow about 40 varieties of fruits and veggies all year round. We are located on a bus route, a 10 minute walk from a stunning beach. There are great hiking and biking trails all around us and two swimming lakes not even a 10 minute drive from the farm.

For machinery, we have a tractor with a bucket (yay! no turning compost by hand), manure spreader (yay! no wheelbarrowing manure), some hilling discs for our Cub tractor (yay! no hilling potatoes or celery), a spader and a new root harvester, but most everything else is done by hand.

We sell our produce with Saanich Organics, a farmer-run distributor, and at the local markets. We also have a sweet little farm stand that rivals our Moss Market sales!

My goal is to churn out amazingly skilled farmers who can stand on our shoulders and start successful farming careers with what they have learned here. After 20 years of Certified Organic farming, I’ve got lots of experience to share. We also tend to attract cool farmhands who’ve got lots to share as well! While it’s hard to claim credit, I’ve helped at least 15 new farmers get off to a solid start on their own farms. We’ve got open books, full access to mentorship and we’re keen to try new ideas that farmhands bring our way. I’m a conference junkie and am always learning.

We’re radically cooperative, and we want to build a movement that is grounded in food politics, is financially viable but is also inclusive, soil centred and sustainable for the soul.
We’re part of Saanich Organics, a farmer-run veggie and seed distributor, and most recently, a farmer-led movement to rebuild a food system in Metchosin. We work closely with friends and neighbours who grow grains, pigs, and sheep, and we’ve helped bring a vibrant energy to the Metchosin farmers market.
