Posted by Michalina Hunter on March 21, 2022

Southlands Heritage Farm in Vancouver, BC is seeking a Head Farmer / Educator!

ABOUT Southlands Heritage Farm

Southlands Heritage Farm is a 2.5-Acre property in Vancouver’s Kerrisdale neighbourhood, with goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, honey bees, and many horses & ponies. During the school year we operate an elementary school with approximately 35 children. During after-school hours, we offer on-site horseback riding lessons geared to beginners. On weekends we host pony rides and birthday parties, and are open to the public to visit by donation. During spring-break and summer, we operate farm and pony day-camps for children. In the summer months we operate a weekly farmers market where we sell our own fruits and vegetables. In October we operate a Pumpkin Patch. We have roughly 10 full-time and 15 part-time employees.

We are very small, and although we sell about $10k per year at our farm-gate-sales our focus is more on education than production. We try to do everything as naturally as possible, and use no -icides at all on our produce. We love to teach people of all ages about the realities of food production.
