ABOUT Cropthorne Farm

Cropthorne Farm is a Certified Organic family farm located on Westham Island, in Delta. We have been growing a great diversity of high quality organic food since 2009 and are passionate about what we do. Throughout the year we participate in several Vancouver Farmers Markets which allows us to share the beautiful bounty of our farm with the Lower Mainland community.

Able to operate and present in a professional and positive manner.
Enthusiastic, reliable and punctual.
An excellent communicator and listener.
Ready to learn and can take instruction well.
Detailed and quality oriented.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to shift to new tasks quickly and efficiently.
Comfortable working in a physical position that involves bending, kneeling, sliding, pushing and lifting up to 40 lbs. safely and independently.
Committed to providing excellent customer service to our customers and CSA members.
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Able to manage cash and card transactions
Fluent in English
Must be able to commit to (nearly) all market dates

ASSETS INCLUDE:

Loves good food!
Knowledge on how to prepare and cook a variety of vegetables.
Familiarity with local, sustainable, organic agriculture
Previous experience in a service or customer based position.

POSITION TASKS

Unloading and loading the market truck with stall equipment and vegetables.
Set up and take down of the market stall and the produce display.
Restocking and maintaining a high quality of produce and display while maintaining food safety standards.
Serving customers, answering questions and carrying out cash and credit transactions accurately.
Maintain a safe and enjoyable market stall environment for our customers.
Assist our CSA members with their weekly box pickups.
Weight out and bag items as needed for sale.

POSITION DETAILS

Term: For the Summer Market season, we are looking to welcome some new energetic and enthusiastic people to our market crew at one or more of our market stalls at the following locations:

West End (Saturdays, 7am-3pm) – 1 position June 21-October 25 FILLED
West End (Saturdays, 7am-3pm) – 1 position July 19-October 25
Kitsilano (Sundays, 8am-3pm) – 1 position June 15 -October 26 FILLED
Kitsilano (Sundays, 8am-3pm) – 1 position June 29 -October 26
Kitsilano (Sundays, 8am-3pm) – 1 position July 27 -October 26

Hours per week: 7.5

Wage:

West End (Saturdays, 7AM-3PM) – $144/market
Kitsilano (Sundays, 8AM-3PM) – $125/market

Wage includes vacation pay, plus 15% off veggies at our stall.
