Farmer Cam’s Foods in Terrace, BC is seeking a Vegetable Farm Worker!
ABOUT Farmer Cam’s Foods
In the fertile soils of the Skeena River Valley, Farmer Cam’s Foods (FCF) grows vegetables and distributes them in Terrace, BC. Owned and managed by Cameron Bell and his partner Carol-Ann on rented land, the business uses regenerative practices to grow roughly 20 different crops including greens, root crops, fruiting crops, and microgreens. Our production methods include outdoor fields, unheated high tunnels, a greenhouse, and an insulated building with grow lights for seedlings and microgreens. We use the landlord’s tractor for some tilling and other tasks, but most of our work is done my hand.
Our mission is to run a profitable farm business and maintain the health and happiness of staff, partners, and customers. With a goal of 3 seasonal employees and 1 acre in production in 2026, the farm distributes produce through a weekly CSA box, farmers market, and some direct sales channels such as local grocers and First Nations.
We strive to build soil organic matter and test our soil every 1-2 years to track our progress. While we do use a tractor to plow, disc, and till, we try to limit disturbance to once per year, and use black tarps to cover the soil between crops. We are working towards a better cover cropping plan, incorporation of pollinator and beneficial insect habitat, and reducing our use of plastic mulches. However, we balance all of our decisions with financial and operational/efficiency considerations – the use of landscape fabric, row cover, or drip tape necessitates the creation of waste but greatly improves our practices. We use organic fertility inputs such as blood and bone meal, and occasionally pest control such as neem oil or BTK.
