ABOUT Kingfisher Farm Market
We are a small farm in South Surrey BC sustainably growing vegetables and flowers. We run a weekly on-site farm market, do roadside sales as well as farmer’s boxes and restaurant sales. We cultivate about an acre of vegetables. We have a small crew of about 7 of us at the height of the season. The successful applicant for this position would be involved in a huge variety of aspects of vegetable production and would ideally come with previous farming experience as we hit the ground running.
We have been farming on this land since 2006 and are committed to sustainable/regenerative farming practises. At this point we are primarily no-till and use mulch, tarps and cover cropping to cover soil and reduce weed pressure. Don’t worry, it hasn’t eliminated all need for weeding! We value being able to connect directly with our community through our weekly on-site market and road-side sales. People are invited on to the farm and can see their food and flowers being grown as well as learn about local, seasonal eating. In coming to the farm they are increasing their connection to where their food comes from and being able to take in the peace and beauty of this land.

- Able to stick with repetitive tasks, looking for ways to improve efficiency as competency is gained

- Attention to detail and maintaining quality standards
- Ability to increase pace of skills as the season goes
- Preference will be given to those with previous farming experience
POSITION TASKS
- Field tasks of weeding, planting, harvesting
- Farm tasks of washing harvest bins, clean up from previous market day
- Engagement with market customers about vegetables and seasonal eating
- General farm tasks as needed
- Greenhouse seeding and watering
- Clean up
POSITION DETAILS
Term: March – November
Hours per week: 40 hrs/week
Wage: $19-22/hr depending on experience
