Posted by Michalina Hunter on January 05, 2021

Ferme de Roulant in Senneville (Island of Montréal), Québec is seeking a Farm Hand for the 2021 season!

ABOUT Ferme de Roulant

As part of the Roulant’s mission of building a food system that is healthy, just, and sustainable, the Ferme du Roulant farms a 3-acre plot of agriculturally zoned and organically certified land in Senneville. The farm was co-founded in 2012 by Santropol Roulant and Howard Reitman. It can be found on the western tip of the Island of Montreal.

This land supports the production of fresh produce for our kitchen programs and our organic baskets. Initiatives such as our solidarity baskets and meals-on-wheels contribute to making organic produce accessible to all, regardless of socio-economic status, level of mobility, or degree of autonomy.

The farm also plays an important role in training the next generation of farmers. Every summer, we hire passionate young farmers. We also educate Montrealers on the importance of organic and local agriculture through our events like the Community Farm Day.

Santropol Roulant is an intergenerational community food hub where we grow, prepare and deliver food. In doing so, we create a continuum of engaging services that help build a stronger social fabric, and increase food security and social inclusion for Montrealers.

Our working culture? Get ready to immerse yourself in a mindset of gratitude and care, and to embrace uncertainty, nuance and imperfection. We’re a small organization with lots of activity, creativity and big ideas, and we’re focused on connecting people, authentic relating and living our values as best we can.

The Roulant treats people as gifts and takes a holistic and welcoming approach to our community of members. Our work culture is process-driven and all about embracing change. You can expect a polyvalent and open approach to all our work. It can be challenging at times, but we’re fortunate to have a workplace filled with a lot of love and care, and to be surrounded by a network of supporters that champion this effervescent and rich community project.

Do you have experience in farming? Are you looking for a job that aligns with your values for community engagement and sustainable agriculture? Well, step right up! In collaboration with our funding partners, we create seasonal opportunities for Canadian youth in our agriculture programs. The farm also plays an important role in training the next generation of farmers while at the same time meeting our production needs: an organic basket program to feed our community.
