Salix and Sedge Farm in Salmo, BC is seeking a Farm Worker!

ABOUT Salix and Sedge Farm

Salix and Sedge is a certified organic farm located in Salmo BC. We farm approximately two acres of land where we grow a diversity of field crops. We also have a year-round heated greenhouse where we grow tomatoes and cucumbers in the spring and summer, and greens in the fall and winter. We produce a wide range of vegetables, primarily for our roadside farm stand and a few local retailers.

Salix and Sedge Farm is certified organic through the Kootenay Organic Growers Society.
Our mission is to grow nutritious, high quality food for our community while maintaining the rich diversity in our farm-wetland ecosystem.

DESIRED QUALITIES

  • Must be a full time returning student
  • Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a supportive team culture
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and do physical work outdoors in variable weather

POSITION TASKS

  • seed and transplant
  • harvest, wash, pack produce
  • weed and cultivate
  • contribute to all aspects of growing and maintaining crops in the greenhouse and field

POSITION DETAILS

Term: early May through until the end of August

Hours per week: 32 hours/week

Wage: $17.40/hr
