ABOUT Saanich Organics & Seeds of the Revolution
Saanich Organics is a group of farmers that work together to sell our produce. Seeds of the Revolution is the seed business we started over a decade ago when we realized that food sovereignty starts with seed. Motivated in equal parts by concern over corporate consolidation in control of our seed supply and loving fascination with the incredible beauty and promise of seed, we started growing our own. We produce high quality, bioregionally adapted organic seed for gardeners and farmers alike. We sell bulk seed through BC EcoSeed Co-op and directly to farmers, and we sell packets through our webstore, local retailers, farmers markets, and Seedy Saturday events.
All our farms are certified organic, and we care deeply about growing in ways that sustain the soil, our community, and ourselves.
DESIRED QUALITIES
Are you passionate about building a better food system, starting with seeds? Are you an organized, creative self-starter with solid computer skills and social media savvy? Are you an enthusiastic people person with proven marketing skills? Seeds of the Revolution has the seeds, and we need you to help us market them. Gardening experience is a bonus.
JOB TASKS
Duties of the Marketing Manager will include:
- Monitoring our webstore and fulfilling orders
- Maintaining and improving the webstore
- Monitoring email
- Managing Instagram and Facebook accounts
- Communicating with retailers, restocking our seed racks around town, and developing new relationships with retailers
- Packaging seeds
- Selling at Seedy Saturdays and other events
- Communicating with Saanich Organics owners and the Head Seed Grower
- Bringing us your creativity and fresh perspective
JOB DETAILS
Term: This is a part-time 3 month contract position, with the option to renew. Hiring now!
Hours per week: Approximately 10 hours per week, flexible schedule
Wage: Starting wage $20/hr plus access to produce. Potential for future profit sharing.
