FARM JOB: port alberni, BC – MorningStar Woollen, head of sales and marketing

MorningStar Woollen in Port Alberni, BC is seeking a head of sales and marketing!

ABOUT MorningStar Woollen

MorningStar Woollen is a regenerative sheep and flower farm and design studio located in the Alberni Valley on Vancouver Island, BC. We raise a small flock of Bluefaced Leicester sheep and produce wool, yarn, knitwear, and naturally dyed textiles alongside seasonal and dried florals, dye plants, and farm-grown botanical goods.

This position is focused primarily but not exclusively on our flower production.

The farm is a regenerative mixed operation where pasture, perennial plantings, and cultivated flower and dye beds come together in a working landscape focused on soil health, biodiversity, and carbon sequestration. The physical setting includes grazing fields, production gardens, a small studio workspace, and areas for harvest, processing, and workshop preparation.

DESIRED QUALITIES

  • I’m looking for someone who loves sales — like genuinely enjoys talking to customers, making the ask, closing the loop, and feeling proud when the farm is abundant because of it. You see it as an opportunity for service and connection.
  • You have a high ownership mindset. you don’t wait to be told what to do every day. you notice what’s low in inventory, what’s selling, what needs a post, what market prep is missing — and we huddle up to discuss and you handle it:)
  • You are organized and systems-oriented,I need someone who can track product flow, follow through on launches, and keep inventory from becoming chaos.
  • You are definitely physically capable and seasonally steady. Farm work is real: weeding, harvesting, bouquet-making, sheep checks. I want someone who can move between a spreadsheet and muddy boots without complaining.
  • You are a strong communicator with warmth — someone who can steward customer relationships, represent the brand at markets, and write in a voice that feels aligned with MorningStar.
  • You are brand-respectful, not brand-reinventing. able to implement beautiful, consistent marketing using existing visuals and tools, without trying to redesign everything.
  • You care about regenerative agriculture, reducing waste, creating beauty in harmony with nature — and want your work to mean something beyond just selling stuff.
  • And finally, you are both creative and practical: able to tell the story, but also pack the van, price the products, and crank bouquets when it’s go-time.
