Wilder Wood Farm on Pender Island, British Columbia, is seeking farm help!
ABOUT Wilder Wood Farm
Wilder Wood Farm is a small farm on Pender Island that grows a variety of vegetables for sale at our on site market stand and restaurant sales. We are looking for one or two farm helpers to join the team to assist with general farm activities in 2026 (and potentially longer-term).
We use organic and ecological practices and grow many different heirloom vegetables, as well as herbs and edible flowers. We also strive to grow as much of our own food as possible, collect seeds, and process food through the seasons. We mainly grow a variety of field crops and greenhouse crops on about 2 acres of rotational fields using mainly hand tools.

DESIRED QUALITIES
We are looking for a farm hand to assist with general farm activities including harvesting, planting, weeding, and bed preparation. Ideal team members will be physically fit, able to lift heavy loads, equipped and willing to work in a variety of weather conditions, hard-working, with attention to detail and efficiency. Maintaining quality standards and organizational skills for food growing and harvesting is important as well as timeliness, reliability and reliable transportation. Work includes some independent and team tasks that change daily depending on the season. Experience in farming and harvesting is an asset but not necessary as a desire to learn and an interest in organic growing is welcome. We do not have on-farm accommodations so you will need to have your own housing on Pender Island.

POSITION TASKS
Tasks will vary based on experience and ability. We are looking for someone who can assist with the following tasks.
- Weeding (this is a lot of what happens on the farm and requires physical strength and bending over for long periods)
- Transplanting (we are planting new crops through the seasons)
- Harvesting (requires attention to detail and efficiency, as well as physical fitness), including efficiently picking, processing and packing as required for a variety of crops
- Bed preparation (amending and preparing beds for rotations on the farm)
- Installation of fencing and trellises at times
- Comfort and patience with dogs as they are part of the farm day to day

POSITION DETAILS
Term: March-April 2026 (start date flexible) through to fall 2026 (Oct-Nov 2026), we are open to shorter terms potentially.
Hours per week: 20-40 hrs/wk depending on availability.
Wage: $20-25/hr depending on experience.
Access to seasonal produce is a perk of the job.
