ABOUT Riverlands Agricultural
Riverlands Farm is an organic grazing operation based in the Pemberton Valley, BC. We focus on raising cattle using rotational grazing practices that prioritize animal health, soil health, and efficient pasture use.
The farm is set in a scenic valley surrounded by mountains, with a mix of open pasture and irrigated fields. Our operation relies on seasonal grazing, irrigation systems, and well-maintained fencing to support livestock movement and pasture management throughout the grazing season.
Equipment used on the farm includes tractors, side-by-sides (UTVs), irrigation equipment, and standard fencing tools and infrastructure.
Our work is hands-on and field-based, with an emphasis on practical, low-stress livestock handling and maintaining productive pasture systems.
Riverlands Farm follows organic grazing practices, with a focus on responsible land stewardship, animal welfare, and building healthy soils. Our approach is rooted in rotational grazing, allowing pastures adequate recovery time to maintain productivity and long-term sustainability.
We prioritize low-stress livestock handling and aim to work with natural systems to produce healthy animals while improving the land over time. Our goal is to operate efficiently while maintaining a practical, environmentally responsible approach to cattle production.
DESIRED QUALITIES
- We are looking for reliable, hard-working individuals with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, shows up consistently, and can follow direction while also working independently when needed.
- This role requires someone who is comfortable with physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions. An interest in agriculture and livestock is important, and previous cattle experience is an asset but not required.
- We value honesty, accountability, and a strong work ethic, along with the ability to be part of a small, team-oriented operation.
POSITION TASKS
- The employee will be involved in the day-to-day operations of a grazing-based cattle program. Tasks include daily monitoring and care of livestock, moving cattle between pastures, and assisting with rotational grazing management.
- Additional responsibilities include setting up and maintaining irrigation systems, building and repairing fences, and general pasture maintenance. The role will also involve a variety of general farm duties as needed, depending on the season and priorities of the operation.
- Work is primarily outdoors and can be physically demanding, with tasks varying from day to day.
POSITION DETAILS
Term: This is a seasonal position starting in April or May 2026 (flexible depending on candidate availability) and running through October 2026, depending on the grazing season and weather conditions.
Hours per week: Hours will vary depending on the role and farm needs. Full-time positions are typically 35–40 hours per week, and part-time positions can be adjusted accordingly. Some weekend work may be required.
Wage: This position pays $23.50 per hour. For the right candidate, we also offer $20.60 per hour plus on-site accommodation. All wages comply with current BC labour standards.
