FARM JOB: North Vancouver, BC – Edible Garden Project at Loutet Farm, Community Food Animator

The Edible Garden Project at Loutet Farm in North Vancouver, BC is seeking a Community Food Animator!

ABOUT Edible Garden Project at Loutet Farm

We operate a half-acre urban farm on public park land (Loutet Farm), and a one-third acre Schoolyard Market Garden at Sutherland Secondary, in North Vancouver. We sell all the food we grow at our on-site Farmers Market twice a week as part of our social enterprise model. The farm is a public space, and we host interns, volunteer groups, tours and community potlucks. The Edible Garden Project (EGP) is a program of North Shore Neighbourhood House. The EGP is actively increasing land used for food production, building knowledge and skills around food gardening and working with municipalities to increase opportunities for urban agriculture.

The Edible Garden Project and Loutet Farm operate on three main principles:

We grow: using organic practices (not certified) to grow rotating mixed produce crops on our urban farm.

We share: we support 5 volunteer run sharing gardens in North Vancouver who grow for the North Vancouver Foodbank

We teach: Loutet Farm is strongly volunteer supported and so it is both a working and teaching farm. We have season long farm interns, run farm tours for all school ages, run educational programming in school gardens, and offer workshops on site at the farm.
