ABOUT Stable Harvest Farm
Stable Harvest Farm is a 65 acre social enterprise non-profit farm in Langley, BC. Established in 2020 the farm has had two successful seasons growing fresh organic produce for emergency food relief to those in need. Moving into 2022 the organization will focus on primary/intermediate educational programming hosting thousands of youth in an interactive experiential agricultural tour. We have partnered with BC Agriculture in the Classroom to bring students in for educational experiences. Stable Harvest Farm is looking for hardworking and motivated candidates for the upcoming 2022 season. If you are interested in regenerative agriculture, ecosystem restoration, environmental education and getting your hands dirty, this may be the position for you! In addition to these ongoing projects, we also partner with multiple charities: Backpack Buddies, KidSafe, FoodStash, Cathedral Church, Sources Food Bank, Richmond Food Bank, Talmud Torah School, Chabad Richmond etc.
Farm Projects:
- Regenerative agriculture – cover cropping, nutrient cycling, minimal tillage, composting
- Conservation – fallow land, wildlife corridors, removing invasives
- Pollinator corridors – we have 40 beehives on site!
- Wetland rehabilitation – creating habitat for seasonal migratory birds
- Horticulture – native plants, edible flowers, tree planting
- Seed Saving – legumes, drying beans, drying corn, quinoa, sunflower, wheat
- Chickens – a flock of heritage breeds
- Organic food production – educational demonstration garden, greenhouse growing
In addition to these ongoing projects, staff will have access to educational sessions related to topics of interest in sustainable agriculture. By working at Stable Harvest, you will be an important part of educating and bringing awareness to future generations.

- Strong work ethic, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Physical and mental endurance (repetitive tasks, standing, kneeling, bending, some heavy lifting up to 20kg)
- Enjoy working outside in all kinds of weather
- Proven ability in working effectively with co-workers and/ or volunteers
- Efficient, reliable, consistent, and punctual
- The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in sustainable farming and/or food security.
Job Tasks
- This season will be working with our partner on hosting school visits at our farm.
- Spring jobs include prepping beds, setting up irrigation, transplanting, weeding, site maintenance etc.
- Late spring and early summer are on harvesting, packing, processing. Succession planting for continual supply. Greenhouse trellising and pruning.
- Fall and end of season is final harvest push of storage crops. Cover cropping. Farm clean up, and ground prep for 2023 season.
JOB DETAILS
Term: Early May until Late October
Hours per week: 40
Wage: $18/hour
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
- Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
