EMAJ Properties in Lake Country, BC is seeking a on site general farm worker!
ABOUT EMAJ Properties
EMAJ farms was born in April 2021 when our family of 6 decided to purchase a property within close proximity to all of our homes. Our immediate goal was to enrich the lives of all three generations that would be learning and benefiting from getting their hands dirty at the farm. Since then, we have explored a few of the many dreams we have for the property including; vegetable gardens, livestock production and making hay while the sun shines (or sometimes not).
Our 10 acre farm is conveniently located between Kelowna and Vernon, in the heart of Lake Country. The location provides the unique benefit of being within walking distance to many services that our town offers, including a bus route. We grow alfalfa hay on five acres of gently sloped land, and grass hay on another two. With the remaining land we sow cover crops, rotate livestock (broiler chickens and weaner pigs for local sale), grow garlic and have a substantial garden. There are two homes, two shops, a five stall barn and a hay shelter that make up the farm’s infrastructure. Some of the goals we have for the future of the farm continue to focus on local food security with the addition of a commercial kitchen, livestock processing facilities and a farm store.
To take our dreams to the next level, we are in search of someone to fill the position of general farm worker. The ideal candidate would live on site and help us carry out these projects so we could continue to grow our farm business.
EMAJ Farms values food security, community and family involvement and life enrichment. We use permaculture influenced practices.
