FARM JOB: Ladysmith, BC – Yellow Point Farms, Farmhand

Yellow Point Farms in Ladysmith, BC, is seeking a Farmhand!

ABOUT Yellow Point Farms

We are a diverse 32 acre farm that is nestled in a sunny valley in Yellow Point, Ladysmith. Blueberries are our main crop, but we grow many other types of fruit and vegetables as well. We also have miniature livestock (Nigerian dwarf goats, Babydoll sheep and Kune Kune pigs) that help us farm naturally and sustainably. We have a bustling and dynamic farm store and petting farm on our property year round, and we sell our blueberries at farmer’s markets throughout the summer.

Our mission is to create a connection between farmers and the consumer. We believe that if people know their farmers, and are familiar with the farm that produce their food, they build trust and gain knowledge on how their food is being grown and raised.   Here at Yellow Point farms we have a well-balanced ecosystem and rich soils that produce nutrient-dense foods while treating the environment and the animals with respect.

We believe in regenerative and sustainable farming methods. We farm all naturally, with no synthetic chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides. So we like to say we are “More-Ganic” – more natural than certified organic. Everything we grow here is grown by hand, from hand seeding, to hand pulling weeds, to harvesting by hand all the fruit and vegetables. We utilize our own manure and compost from our mini livestock, and the chickens, ducks, and other poultry roam the fields as pest control. Our babydoll sheep go between the blueberry rows, in the grapes, and in the orchard and “mow the grass” whilst fertilizing as they go ;). We have a well-balanced ecosystem and rich soils that produce nutrient-dense foods while treating the environment and the animals with respect.
