Value Jack Farms in Sussex, New Brunswick is seeking a Farm Worker!
ABOUT Value Jack Farms
Value Jack Farms is a remote farm which grows wild red raspberries, hot peppers, and Christmas trees. The staff will be using shovels, drills, hammers, and chain saws. Products will be shipped to Ontario and Quebec for sale or will be sold farmgate and at farmer’s markets.
At Value Jack Farms, we try to assist less fortunate people in the community. We often hire homeless people, make food donations to homeless shelters and women’s centres, and support women’s rights projects.
DESIRED QUALITIES
The person must be:
- physically strong to fell trees, construct wood fencing, and manage a berry field.
- a student to qualify for a government funded wage grant
Preference will be given to first year students, visible minorities, persons with disabilities, newcomers, Indigenous students ,and women in STEM.
The owner will mange and provide supervision to the new staff.
POSITION TASKS
The person will:
- fell trees
- construct wood fencing
- manage a berry field
- trim berry plants into rows
- harvest, pack. sell and transport berries
The student will engage in other tasks as assigned.
POSITION DETAILS
Term: The position begins ASAP and continues until August 15, 2024. There is a possibility of extension to September 2, 2024.
Hours per week: 35 hours per week.
Wage: $20 per hour.
