Haslam Creek Farm in Nanaimo, BC is hiring a Field Team Leader for the 2020 season!

About Haslam Creek Farm

Haslam Creek Farm is a rural 92-Acre farm located in Coast Salish Territory near Cedar, BC.  Bordering along a salmon-bearing creek, the farm strives to be in stewardship to the land.  We have been growing industrial hemp since 2017 as the primary cash crop, as well as other food and cover crops.  We use high-efficiency dripline irrigation to deliver rainwater that is captured in the winter and stored in our 2 million gallon pond.  Most machinery on the farm includes hand tools, and small power-tools.

We follow permaculture principles and aim to create a climate-change resilient, certified-organic model farm.

  1. Hi there! My name is Jenn, and I’m a student with VIU. I am currently taking a Holistic Nutrition course and an assignment we have is to get connected with local farmers to see if we can “work for food” so I am looking to volunteer for about 4 hours(I have a classmate as well so there will be 2 of us). If this is something you would be willing to accommodate we would be very grateful. Just to be clear it would be volunteering in exchange for food, we will be making a healthy recipe from the food we collect. Thank you so much in advance. I look forward to hearing from you!

    1. Hi Jenn,

Thanks for your comment. I’m not sure if the farmers will see your comment here- best to contact them directly via the contact info at the bottom of the blog post.

      Cheers,
