About Fre-Da-Ro Farm
Fre-Da-Ro Farm is an organic sheep, chicken and grain farm with a small breeding herd of Lowline Angus cattle. The farm is situated along the Shuswap river with a wonderful view of the Enderby Cliffs. Tractors are used for field prep and for feeding of animals. The farm has “farm gate” sales of chickens, lamb and eggs. We are also in the process of renovating the office into a shop and opening the farm to the public for self guided tours, our aim being to give people positive experiences of farming and agriculture.
Fre-Da-Ro Farm is a certified organic farm and we are continuously looking into improving the condition of the soil, plants and animals. We believe a holistic approach is necessary to achieve this and that farming is an integrated system where animals, microorganisms, humans and plants play a role in bringing balance to the environment. It is our goal to steward the land, animals and environment well.
Desired Qualities
The employee will need to be easy going, reliable, self motivated, willing to learn and adapt/adjust, good people skills are necessary as the employee will be expected to deal with the public or patrons. Good communication skills are essential, the employee must be fluent and able to read and write in English and be able to do simple math. The applicant will need a valid BC Driver’s licence and transport. Farming experience is an asset but not a requirement to apply.
Job Tasks
The employee will be expected to perform a range of tasks, including but not restricted to: field preparation (cultivating and packing), setting up/taking down and moving electric fencing, feeding animals, wood splitting for winter prep, mucking out pens, halter training calves.
Job Details
Term: Starting date as soon as possible. This is a full time permanent position.
Hours: 35-40 hours/week
Wage: Starting wage is $15.00/hr
