Ol’ MacDonald Farm in Duncan, BC is seeking a part-time farm apprentice-like worker!
ABOUT Ol’ MacDonald Farm
We grow mixed vegetables and eggs using organic methods and hand tools on a small and intense scale at two closely situated sites just outside the city limits. We sell at the Duncan Farmer’s Market and on the local food hub website (www.cow-op.ca)
We grow our vegetables employing whatever methods we can that improve the fertility and biodiversity of the rented land we steward. This means, when feasible: organic methods, no-till, and permaculture. Also we try to have fun most of the time. We are not in to drudgery.
We are looking for somebody is physically fit and who can work quickly whether they are alone or in a group; somebody who is interested in farming and not just looking for a job; somebody who can follow instructions and learns quickly. Somebody who has a zest for life and loves to grow!
Weeding, bed prep, harvesting, processing, transplanting, seeding and possibly working our stall at the Farmer’s Market.
Term: May 1st to October 1st or November 1st.
Hours per week: 18 hours, or three days a week at six hours per day. One of these days must be Friday (harvest day).
