Innisvale Farm in Duncan, B.C. is seeking a farm worker/learner!
ABOUT Innisvale Farm
We produce blueberries in a 7 acre field surrounded by forest at the base of a mountain. It is accessible by a 5-10 minute walk or by SUV (which we have). We use small gas powered equipment (riding mower, weed trimmer etc.) as well as hand tools. Most of our sales are direct sales as we maintain a customer list but we have sold at farmers’ markets and also via on-line formats such as Cowichan Cow-OP.
We are not certified organic but we follow organic practices and principles. Our vision is to keep the field and its product in healthy production for years to come and for next generations.
We are looking for a reliable, hard-working individual who has a love of farming or at least is anxious to learn about farming. Perseverance is key to successful farming!
Tasks are reflective of most types of small fruit farming: assisting in maintaining the field- mowing, weeding either with gas powered equipment or sickle and scythe; picking and sorting and pruning as necessary and in season.
Term: Work is primarily in summer- July and August. Pruning is done January to April.
Hours per week: Hours for pruning are approximately 25 hours per week and for field management 30 to 40 hours depending on weather.
Wage: Hourly wage is $17-$20 depending on experience. We can teach if you are willing to learn.
Please send a description of your work experience to date and a list of your aspirations to email@example.com
