Capital Greens Urban Farm in Ottawa, ON is seeking a Farm Worker for the 2020 season!
ABOUT Capital Greens Urban Farm
Capital Greens is a small-scale, diversified organic vegetable farm located at the Just Food Farm in Blackburn Hamlet in Ottawa, Ontario. We grow a mix of veggies – with an emphasis on salad ingredients – that we sell at the Lansdowne Farmer’s Market, to several grocery stores, at the Just Food Farmstand, and through a brand new customizable CSA home delivery program. We believe strongly in organic principles and strive to improve the fertility and biological activity in our soil by employing ecological, minimum-tillage growing techniques.
Soil health is the key to producing healthy crops and nutrient-dense veggies. We never apply chemicals or pesticides on our farm, creating conditions for a vibrant, healthy, living soil. We improve our soil health each year by adding rich organic compost, planting crops densely to minimize bare soil, using minimal tillage techniques, and incorporating cover crops into our cropping system.
