ABOUT YYC Growers and Distributors Cooperative Inc.
YYC Growers and Distributors’ purpose is to connect farmers with urban customers by gathering and distributing locally grown food through a system that regenerates our environment and community and supports the local economy. We provide our fresh, nutrient-rich produce directly from farms to customers through a weekly subscription service, a thriving online farmers’ market and physical farm stands. We offer home delivery and have ~16 pickup locations throughout the Calgary metropolitan area in addition to Airdrie, Langdon and Cochrane.
We work with local farms in a 200km radius to lower barriers to entry, create a lucrative direct path to market, connect them with urban customers and promote regenerative agricultural practices. Not all our farmers are certified organic, however we only purchase from farmer who are chemical free, or use certified organic chemicals in extreme cases. We focus on farmers pursuing the highest standards of regenerative, or in the case of indoor systems, sustainable, practices.

JOB TASKS
This is an opportunity to own two roles: Customer Care and Marketing Intern.
Purpose:
Customer Care:
The purpose of this role is working directly with our customers to help create a positive experience. This role sets the tone for customer relations as you help them navigate our sales and information platform and ensure that they are completely satisfied. You will also educate customers about our farmers, promote subscription sales and market items.
Marketing Intern:
This role is an opportunity to work with and learn from a highly experienced consulting Marketing Lead. The role purpose is to execute tactical aspects of the marketing plan in a diligent, timely and consistent manner. The purpose of the marketing team is to create a rich, engaging and effective marketing program that results in continued growth of our customer base and deeper engagement from our existing customers.
Accountabilities:
Customer Care:
- Customer service excellence! Filter customer inquiries and facilitate resolution through phone calls, emails and website chat functions.
- Manage account and subscription information on our e-commerce platform.
- Process orders, refunds, and provide necessary information sheets for the warehouse and delivery drivers.
- Create informative emails weekly to help communicate with customers.
Marketing Intern:
- Work with the Marketing Lead to execute tactical aspects of the marketing plan.
- Copy drafting for campaigns, promotional emails and advertisements.
- Take ownership of posting, monitoring and responding to followers on YYC Growers’ social media channels.
- Work with the Marketing Lead as the in-house marketing representative on a wide range of marketing campaigns and initiatives.
- Attending physical markets and pick up locations to promote our service and interact with customers.
JOB DETAILS
Term: 6 month term starting ASAP
Hours per week: 20-30
Wage: $18.00 per hour
