ABOUT Close to Home Organics

Close to Home Organics is a family-owned and operated organic mixed-vegetable farm, located in Abbotsford. We have farmed at Glen Valley Organic Farm as shareholders of the Glen Valley Organic Farm Cooperative since 2007. In 2026, our sales will focus on a Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) program. We use both mechanized and hand seeding, weeding and harvesting techniques.

We are a certified organic farm. Our priority is, and has always been, to grow quality organic produce for local markets, in a way that is sustainable for the soil, our business, and the humans who power it.

POSITION TASKS

CSA packers work in a team of 5 in our packing shed. We work closely with the farmers to prepare orders for customers of our CSA program.

Specific tasks include:

Washing delivery totes and harvest containers using our rinse conveyer
Pre-portion food according to established procedures
Set-up and take-down of the packing room each week
Read & follow pack lists for 300+ orders each week
Lift crates of produce upwards of 20-50 lbs each; know when to ask for help!
Comfortable using pallets and a pallet jack to do much of the work of moving product around
Able to provide your own transportation to/from the farm and track your labour hours in the timesheets provided on-site

POSITION DETAILS

Term: The position starts June 1 and runs through to November 30. Packers are on the farm Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Hours per week: 20-25 hours/week.

Wage: $24.25/hour, in line with the Living Wage rate for the Fraser Valley.
