NOV 28 | 7 – 8-30 PM: HOW TO BUSINESS PLAN WITHOUT LAND
A hands-on look at exercising your planning muscles

Remember the old saying, it’s not the destination but the journey that matters? The same can be said for the process of planning for a farm business when you don’t yet have land. Your vision for your farm determines what you need in terms of land access and infrastructure including the scale and location of your farm, your capital needs, start-up costs, what you will grow, where your market is….these are important decisions to consider.

Engaging in the process of planning for your farm business will help you factor in these and other variables that will affect the long term viability of your farm. The time it takes you to find the right land situation for your business is well-spent exercising your business planning and management muscles so you are well-prepared to launch your business when the lease is signed. Join Melanie Buffel, Manager of the YA Business Mentorship Network, in this workshop to learn more about the planning process and tools in order to create a viable farm business plan before you commit to a land lease.

This session is primarily aimed at land seekers.

NOV 29 | 7 – 8 PM: PANEL: COLLABORATIVE FARMING
Creative ways to work with other farmers for mutual success

Are you interested in lightening your load by working with other farmers? At this session, you’ll hear from farmers who are exploring creative ways to share resources, market collectively, and collaborate, in formal and informal ways.

This session is primarily aimed at land seekers and is open to anyone interested in learning about collaborating with other farmers.

NOV 30 | 7 – 8 PM: CO-OWNING FARMLAND with COHO BC
Resources and considerations for buying land together

Land ownership feels increasingly out of reach in BC. This session from guest speakers COHO BC will showcase alternative ways to purchase land in collaboration with others. Whether you’re looking at buying land with other farmers, or are a landholder considering opportunities to have farmers buy into your land, COHO BC will provide valuable insights and info to help you explore your goals and define your potential next steps.

        1. Hi Lori,

Not to worry, the recording will be sent out to everyone who registered- although it might not be until next week. But please do tune into the next session, you don’t need to have attended the first one 🙂

There should be reminder emails going out the morning of each session as well with the zoom link.

          Cheers,
          Michalina
