August 11: Ranfurly Farm Tour & Potluck

Posted by Sara Dent on July 11, 2014

Come to picturesque Turtle Valley and checkout Ranfurly Farm. A mixed family farm with pasture raised poultry, a market garden, sheep, cattle, and farmers with five to forty-five years of farming experience. We freerange our pastured poultry in rotation behind our cattle and sheep, and have a 2-acre market garden with a moveable greenhouse.

About the young agrarians on the land: Adam has a background in forestry, and had not done any farming until he moved to Turtle Valley five years ago. Jennifer grew up on her family cattle farm and apprenticed for two years before starting the CSA with Adam in 2010. We have focused on pastured poultry and our market garden, selling our wares at the Sorrento and Scotch Creek Farmer’s Markets. The whole farm is 26 acres that we share with my parents, who raise sheep, cattle and pigs. We eat our own food all year long, and are happy to share what we know and learn from others.
