Amir is seeking young adults with a passion for education and social justice activism for its summer Fellowship. Amir Farmers run educational programming at one of our 30+ summer camp partners across North America, using the garden space as a medium for inspiring youth to serve their communities. Farmers come together at the end of May for a week-long Seminar to learn the nuts and bolts of gardening, as well as how to leverage Amir’s curriculum. Farmers work from mid-June to mid-August, and live at the summer camp they are positioned at. Food, lodging, and transportation are covered, and farmers make a base salary of $2,000.
At the Amir Seminar, Farmers come together to learn the necessary skills to build and harvest a garden at one of our partner camps. Amir provides mentorship and support throughout the summer. Extensive gardening / farming experience is a plus, but not a prerequisite. A passion for social justice and working with youth is a must.
Because we only have a few camps in Canada, some potential Canadian farmers will have the opportunity to work at locations in the US. The training will be May 30th to June 3rd in Maryland (in the US), and is at no cost to the farmers. Travel, food, and accommodations are included in the job.
