🌱 Two profile features on our website and social media
🌱 Opportunities for peer networking and monthly virtual meet ups
The Young Agrarians Business Mentorship Network pairs new and seasoned farmers to cultivate the skills for running ecologically sustainable and financially viable businesses. Mentors support you to dig into the business of farming and lay the groundwork for your farm’s long term viability.
Whether you need business basics or strategic planning for long-term growth, gaining business development skills is one of the biggest challenges facing new farmers. Our aim is to provide new farmers with an opportunity to build their business knowledge and use it to grow their farm operations to achieve long-term viability.
Mentors are guided by your goals and may help you evaluate multiple facets of your business: production, operations, marketing, financial and risk management, as well as assist in developing and implementing strategic business goals for the upcoming season and beyond.
Since 2015, the BMN has paired 199 farmers on 136 farms with 81 mentors creating lasting relationships of support and mutual learning. Since the program’s inception, we have seen mentees generate average increases of 81% in revenues, 62% in the volume of food grown and 61% in land under production during their season of mentorship.
