We hope you will be able to join us for the 2014 Annual Gathering of the BC Food Systems Network (BCFSN) from June 26-29th in Sorrento, BC. The Network respectfully acknowledges that Sorrento is situated on Indigenous land belonging to the Secwepemc Nation. The theme for this year is “Revisiting our Roots: Honouring our Bio-Cultural Heritage.”
Registration for the Gathering is now open!!! Rates include conference registration, accommodation and all meals. We also will provide a full day program for the kids at no extra charge. Kids 4 and under will be welcomed free of charge.
Standard accommodation is a 7 bed cabana. Please visit the Sorrento Centre website for more information. For those who prefer additional privacy, semi-private (two per room) and private (single room) rates are available for an extra charge. Early bird rates will be available till May 23 only.

We are currently seeking proposals for workshops, roundtables and discussion topics or other activities related to the theme “Revisiting our Roots”. Discussion topics will be exploring together include:
· Year of family farm
· Indigenous land and food systems
· Farm land protection
· Seed saving
· GMO awareness
· Biodiversity
The Gathering Committee encourages all of you to share your knowledge and ideas for making the gathering a meaningful and enriching experience. Please submit a one or two paragraph description of your proposed workshop, presentation, or activity (as well as a short bio) to Diane Elliott-Buckley, Gathering Coordinator (gathering@bcfsn.org) by May 19, 2014. Please also explain how your proposal supports this year’s theme.
