We always have new land opportunities coming into our inventory, some of which aren’t on our blog yet! Get in touch with a Land Matcher at bclmp@youngagrarians.org to learn about the latest opportunities and to access free B.C. Land Matching Program services in your region.
This beautiful 200-acre ALR property includes roughly 100 acres of sub-irrigated hay meadow, surrounded by woodland and natural areas. The meadow soils are well-suited to forage production and have a history of consistent hay yields; fields are fenced and cross-fenced to support haying and grazing. The property has electricity, maintained road access and cell service.
Water is provided by two shallow wells – one serving the household and one dedicated to livestock and irrigation –offering reliable supply for garden and animal use. The landholders manage a 6,000-square-foot garden on the property which produces vegetables, berries and cut flowers and could be expanded or further integrated with livestock enterprises. The landholders also currently raise 10 cattle for beef and 10 yaks for fibre and meat.

The landholders have been on the land since 2021 and are in the process of planning a multi-year family transition that will likely take them out of the province around 2027. They are looking for a farmer, couple, or family to come onto the property – within the next year while the landholders are still in residence, or afterward while they are away – to maintain and build on existing production during their absence.
The land is suitable for a range of production types: continued hay and forage production, pasture-based livestock, and mixed crop-livestock integration with small-scale horticulture. The landholders manage the property according to biodynamic and organic principles and would love to see these practices maintained on the land. They are open to mentorship and skills exchange for farmers who want to learn or deepen biodynamic practices.
Housing is available on the property for next season, either in a cozy camper trailer with a wood stove or in the landholders’ primary home. There is also a heritage house on the property that could be used in the future, but it is in need of extensive repairs and updates. The primary residence could become fully available in the next couple of years while the family is away.

The ideal candidate will be motivated and experienced (or demonstrably committed) to working within organic or biodynamic systems and interested in stewardship of both soil and animals. The landholders prefer someone who values integrated nutrient cycling – using manure and forage systems to build on-farm fertility – and who can manage rotational grazing and hay production alongside small-scale horticulture if desired.
The landholders are open to farmers pursuing fibre or meat enterprises, including continuation or expansion of the existing yak herd, as well as farmers focused on mixed vegetable, flower and berry production. Flexibility around the business model and a collaborative communication style are important; the landholders envision arrangements that may combine labour, financial exchange, mentoring and, potentially, a longer-term succession plan.
