We always have new land opportunities coming into our inventory, some of which aren’t on our blog yet! Get in touch with a Land Matcher at bclmp@youngagrarians.org to learn about the latest opportunities and to access free B.C. Land Matching Program services in your region.
Situated in the Nithi Valley alongside Burns Creek, 20 kilometres from Fraser Lake, this 120-acre property offers great potential for a mixed operation, plus beautiful mountain views!
Currently about half treed and half cleared, the land was farmed for three generations by the landholder’s family, and is now ready to be brought back into production. The landholder is not currently farming, but does have horses and a donkey.
The historically farmed sites are two distinct areas: the upper and lower fields. The upper area was previously used for pasture and a large vegetable garden, and has a possible spring-fed water source. Part of the upper field was recently planted with a test crop of Christmas trees; this area has excellent drainage and full southern exposure. The lower fields are fertile river-bottom lands with a high water table, previously used for hay and pasture.

Opportunities here are vast: market gardening, greenhouses, nursery production, livestock (any type aside from goats) and hay… you name it!
The landholder is particularly interested in establishing Christmas trees and/or U-Pick berries, and incorporating agritourism on the property (such as horse-drawn sleigh/carriage rides), but is open to any type of agricultural production.
The property comes with a small tractor, rotovator, post hole auger which may possibly be available to share, and multiple water sources. The landholder is open to various arrangements, provided they can maintain their privacy while living on the property. The incoming farmer could live on-site in a tiny home or self-contained trailer, and there is also potential for subdivision and sale, for the right fit.

The ideal candidate for this opportunity would be an entrepreneurial farmer with hands-on experience who is motivated to revitalize this beautiful property. The incoming farmer would ideally value privacy and open communication, and enjoy a rural setting with wildlife and mountain scenery.
Further, the ideal candidate would be ready to bring in and implement their ideas for mixed use, ideally with an interest in incorporating a few acres of Christmas trees or berry production. Hay production or pasture would also be welcome – the landholder is open to ideas!
