LAND OPPORTUNITY: 1-Acre Turnkey Farm Operation Available for Mixed Vegetable Production – Saanich, BC

We always have new land opportunities coming into our inventory, some of which aren’t on our blog yet! Get in touch with a Land Matcher at bclmp@youngagrarians.org to learn about the latest opportunities and to access free B.C. Land Matching Program services in your region.

ABOUT THE LAND

This property, situated in the historic Prospect Lake community, has an acre of land available for a mixed vegetable producer! The land has been cultivated as a market garden for the past 20 years and the landholder is committed to ensuring that the farm remains productive and diverse.

The land is gently sloped, with clay-loam soils and full sun exposure. The property features a central commercial growing area broken up into several smaller fields, as well as a well-drained, flat, quarter-acre field at its northernmost tip. The site has consistent access to water, power, and cell reception, but there is limited water pressure in the northern field, making that area more suitable for drought-tolerant crops.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Located just 20 minutes outside of downtown Victoria, the property is close to the well-attended farmers markets and farm-to-table restaurants of the city, while still feeling like part of a tight-knit farming community.

The landholder has farmed on this property for over a decade and is now shifting their focus from full-time market gardening to value-added products. These products are produced at an on-site commercial kitchen, using produce and eggs from the farm, and are sold from a well-established farm stand to a loyal base of customers. Ideally, the landholder hopes to partner with the incoming farmer to source ingredients for their products!

This turnkey opportunity comes with established infrastructure, including a cool room, wash/pack station, and commercial greenhouse, plus an assortment of hand tools and farm equipment. As the landholder will still be growing a select number of crops in the 2026 season, some of these amenities will be shared, but the landholder is keen on finding creative and collaborative solutions to managing shared resources.

ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

This is a great turnkey opportunity for a market gardener with experience (three seasons or more) and access to local off-farm housing. The ideal candidate would be excited about bringing new energy and ideas to an established farm.

The landholder is keen on meeting farmers who are independent, creative, and respectful of shared spaces. As the landholder lives on-site and will continue to operate their value-added product business (hopefully in collaboration with the incoming farmer!), good communication skills and willingness to work together will be strong assets for this opportunity.
