FARMER LOOKING FOR LAND: Seeking land to sustainably raise livestock – Cariboo, BC
We have lots of farmers looking for land, most of which aren’t on our blog! Get in touch with a Land Matcher at bclmp@youngagrarians.org to learn about the latest opportunities and to access free B.C. Land Matching Program services in your region.
ABOUT THE FARMER
Mark is seeking land from Salmon arm to Williams Lake to sustainably raise livestock and provide meats to local communities. His vision is to create a multifaceted company that will provide cut and wrapped meat direct-to-consumer, along with other farm-based value-added products. He aims to set up a processing kitchen to launch a variety of products, providing as many of the raw ingredients from the farm as possible. He may also explore the possibility of running a food truck.
Mark has previous farming experience from other operations, and he is currently enrolled in the regenerative agriculture program at Thompson Rivers University.
THEIR LAND VISION
For full functionality, Mark would require 30-40 acres, with around 16 in vegetable cultivation and the rest used for grazing. Housing would be a plus, but Mark could also set up a tiny home on the property.
Ideally, land with the future possibility of purchase would be desirable.
