The Yasodhara Ashram Food Flow Learning Residencies are a unique opportunity to broaden and deepen your understanding of organic sustainable agriculture, food preservation and local food sourcing. Expand your organic food production skills as you learn the practice of Karma Yoga, or selfless service, an essential part of life at Yasodhara Ashram. Food production Learning Residencies available at the Ashram this growing season include Garden, Preserving Kitchen and Food Systems.
Located in the rural community of Kootenay Bay, these full-time, 6-8 month Learning Residencies provides hands-on experience in the full cycle of food production, procuring and preserving food from the ashram garden, orchard and local farmers to provide hands-on experience from farmer to table to larder. The Ashram uses a 1,000 square foot mobile hoop house to support a 3 – 4 season growing period.
Experience and familiarity with organic production methods is preferred but not essential. Important qualities are an open mind, a positive disposition and interest in living and learning within a spiritual community.
