PAID JOBS
As our budding business grows, our team grows with it! While we’re not hiring an army, we’re excited to be offering 2 positions which require the skills, hard work and passion for food to enable us to meet our mandate to Help People Grow Food! Also to keep in mind, Victory Gardens is a co-op and we’re looking to grow our membership! INSTALLATION COORDINATOR
THE POSITION:
No pressure, but this position is the heart and soul of Victory Gardens! All of what we do is enabled by us building gardens, and as a result, it’s imperative that we consistently design, build and install beautiful and functional gardens in all of the spaces we transform. The installation coordinator is detail oriented, organized and tidy and enjoys working with people in varying environments. As a central part of the job is outdoors, whoever fills this role enjoys working hard outside in varying weather conditions. Communication and supplies/time management skills are essential within this role and above all, it’s essential that our Installation Coordinator is driven by the “start and finish” nature of the role. Everyday spaces are being transformed for food production by the installation coordinator, a VERY satisfying part of the job!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Delivery/pick-up of all inputs necessary for installations
Manual labour to build gardens in a variety of environments
Organization and communication of all inputs required for installations
Communications with customers, managers and volunteers
Managing installations focused volunteers
Documentation of the job, before and after, has been acquired AND has been sent to web manager
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to do some heavy lifting!
Driver’s license is required
Experience and knowledge in construction, hardscaping, design and food growing are a plus.
Good rain gear is a must
TERMS:
$14.50/hour
Contract Position
Start Date: Feb. 17th – August 31st approx
Part-time: Feb. 17th – March 31st AND July – August
Full-time: April – June
It is possible that we may continue to need someone for this position September – November, however this is to be determined based on volume.

Operate within terms outlined in VG Agreement

VEGGIE MAINTENANCE & LANDSCAPING PERSON EXTRAORDINAIRE
THE POSITION
We’re looking for a stellar and experienced person to maintain all of our ongoing customer’s veggie gardens, plus perform general landscaping tasks for our ongoing ornamental gardens in Vancouver, BC. You are a person who not only loves plants, but is perceptive, self-directed and is able to troubleshoot and communicate issues that may arise in the garden. You will learn the ins and outs of growing and maintaining organic vegetable gardens in all kinds of spaces. Not to mention you’ll get to work outside all summer long! Dream job!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
In the Garden:
Manage all maintenance and landscaping installations for new gardens
Perform all ongoing veggie maintenance for existing customers: This includes planting, maintaining, organic pest control, weeding, and harvesting when needed.
Perform all ongoing landscaping maintenance for existing customers
Manage all supply runs related to the role for new and existing gardens
Perform greenhouse tasks when needed, such as assist in starter production and supplies pick-up
Assist in installations and other aspects of Victory Gardens work on an as-needed basis
Administrative roles:
Communicate on-going customer/garden status to Existing Customer Manager
Communicate any customer questions, concerns
Update planting guide after each veggie maintenance visit – highlight tasks performed, make notes for following week, any additional supplies needed
Log hours worked
REQUIREMENTS AND ATTRIBUTES:
Hold a valid driver’s license
Owns/operates an insured vehicle
Are an individual who has knowledge and experience in organic food growing AND landscaping
Exceptional communication skills, verbal and written
Self-starter attitude and time management skills
Ability to be punctual is very important
Flexibility to adapt to an ever-changing schedule
Professionalism and reliability
Ability and willingness to trouble shoot and ask for help when it’s needed
TERMS:
Operate within VG Agreement
Contracted Employee
$13.50/hour
Start Date/End: Beginning of March – September
Part-time March and September
Full-time April – August
