APPRENTICESHIP RESOURCES FOR FARMS AND NOVICE FARMERS –

For new and young farmers looking for opportunities: Please screen your potential employer or apprentice host to ensure that you are entering into a fair exchange that meets your needs and expectations. Try asking the farm for references of past workers or apprentices, or ask people in the community if you are unsure. Check out these great resources for apprentices on the SOIL website.

For farms offering apprenticeships: By posting at Young Agrarians, the expectation is that you are offering a fair and equitable opportunity, that complies with labour regulations in your province or territory (e.g. see BC regulations here). All provinces have different rules on apprenticeship employment regulations. Please check out these best practices from SOIL on labour laws, education, interview questions, contracts, and more.

Happy farming!
