The Grow A Farmer Learning Series and Broadfork Farm present a workshop designed to teach participants the basics of how to put up your own Caterpillar Tunnels (i.e. inexpensive hoophouses)!
The farmers at Broadfork Farm have been happily using their caterpillar tunnels for four years now but have made a few refinements along the way. Learn how to use this innovative strategy to extend your growing season!
This hands-on opportunity will teach others the step by step process of how to construct and use caterpillar tunnels; key considerations; sourcing materials; costs and more!
As all participants will take part in constructing four tunnels, please wear farm-appropriate clothing and footwear, including gloves, a hat, water bottle (water will be supplied), and any other weather-appropriate items.
Snacks will be provided but please bring your own lunch!
Registration is limited to the first 15 people that RSVP. To RSVP, please email broadforkfarm@gmail.com (a Facebook join to this event does not count as an RSVP). This workshop is free, though small ($10-$20) donations are encouraged for the Grow A Farmer Fund. Join the Facebook event here!
Broadfork Farm is located at 3630 Boars Back Rd., River Hebert, NS.
Workshop will run from 10am-4pm
