From June to December 2021, Young Agrarians teamed up with four farms and six organizations and educators to present the Columbia Basin Farm Club event series, an on- and off-farm opportunity to learn together. Over 160 producers and farm-curious folks joined us over the course of the ten in-person and online events! On July 26th, 2021, we hosted our second event of the Young Agrarians 2021 Farm Club event series, which took place virtually at Flyway Farm and Forest and the Spilli Station Cafe in Spillimacheen, B.C. Spring 2020 is seeing a HUGE growth in support for local food through models like Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), like a weekly or monthly seasonal harvest box delivery. White Pine Mountain Apiary

We recently shared our first Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Story featuring Forrest Farm Salmo, jumping into the ins and outs of their protein and vegetable CSA. Next up, we’re catching up with Christina Yahn and Justin Werner, two holistic beekeepers and pollinator activists based in the Slocan Valley of BC. Through their business, White Pine Mountain Apiary, they operate a unique CSA model that includes a community supported apiary, whereby members adopt a bee hive and they do the maintenance and care over the season at their mountain apiary. EVENT RECAP: YA Mixer @ the Basin Food Summit ~ Rossland

On October 25 – 26, 2019, over 100 people joined us at Red Mountain Resort in Rossland, BC, for the Columbia Basin Mixer. The three-day Basin Food Summit kicked off on October 24th with the Food and Buyers Expo. The YA Mixer coincided with the Agricultural Forum on day two, with the third day full of unique programming aimed at new and young entrants into agriculture and food production. EVENT RECAP: Forrest Farm Tour & Potluck ~ Salmo

On Sunday, November 3, 2019, 30 people braved the first day of daylight savings to join us over the course of the afternoon at Forrest Farm in Salmo for a farm tour and fireside potluck, enjoying several delicious soups made from the farm’s bounty! On October 6, 2019, over 40 food and fermentation enthusiasts joined us over the course of the afternoon at the Doukhobor Discovery Center for a hands-on workshop, roundtable discussion and intimate potluck inside the museum!
