We were excited to launch the Young Agrarians U-Map in 2013 as a “one-stop” resource to new farmers to help them find everything from training and jobs, to business planning resources, to suppliers and market opportunities. The Kootenay Co-op is an important sales channel for locally produced food in the Kootenays through the True Local Program. On Sunday, June 16, thirty farmers, food lovers and friends gathered at Linden Lane Farms in Krestova, Central Kootenay, for a tool demonstration with Kootenay Local Agricultural Society, farm tour and potluck social. The event brought out folks to the farm over the course of the afternoon from toddlers to farmers with five decades of experience. The event kicked off with an introduction circle.
