To future generations, We came to the Peace River region (near Pouce Coupe) with our baby and toddler in 1974. We took on an agricultural lease, which required us to clear land, and prepare fields for seeding before we were able to purchase the land. We are still here on our 160-acre farm with fields, forest, hand-built buildings, fences, ponds etc. We have worked over the years to realize our dream of using draft horses for as much of the mechanized work as possible. Farm Legacy Letters: Rob Hettler, Pilgrims’ Produce Farm

To future generations: I personally can trace a farming heritage on my father’s side back to 1770 in Alsace-Lorraine in the Black Forest region of Germany. Our current farm was bought in 1991 at 1568 Eagle Rock Road in Spallumcheen. Prior to our taking over the farm it had been a pig farm, a mixed farm and a raspberry farm dating back to the 1930’s. Farm Legacy Letter: Lorne & Barbara Ebell, Nanoose Edibles Farm

To future generations: Nanoose Edibles is a certified organic farm located in Nanoose Bay, on Vancouver Island. The land has been farmed off and on since 1909. We have owned it since 1985. It is a little more than 22 acres. It had previously been used as cattle pasture and perhaps the odd cut of hay.  I want people to remember that we grew delicious organically grown greens for the people in the region and encouraged people to grown their own greens and gardens. To future generations: Thirty years from now, I want people to remember that my farm was a beautiful productive healthy place to find good food and to learn about producing good food. My farm consists of three properties, the 10-acre main farm with an old farmhouse and outbuildings, a wooded 5 acres contiguous to the farm, and a third 2.5 acre property 4 km down the road where I live and grow some crops. To future generations:  My farm is 10 acres in the hamlet of Dunster, B.C., on the north side of the valley on a bench above the Fraser River with amazing southern exposure. In the short days of winter here at the 54th parallel, our side of the valley gets more than double the amount of sun from the other side.
