Our land is mostly forested hillside where we are building a Permaculture farm-stead. We started with bare land and have in the past 8 years built a functioning though still under construction farm-stead. We built an “Earthship” (rammed earth tire wall/hempcrete/off-grid home.) Thanks to the farms and friends who hosted and the generous support of Columbia Basin Trust, Young Agrarians was able to organize seven different on-farm and educational events across the region in 2019 and early 2020. We learned about tools, seed saving, nurseries, fermentation, mushrooms and more, we toured some groundbreaking farms, and we shared meals with new and old friends. Nearly 50 people joined Young Agrarians at Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort on Sunday, February 16, 2020, for a half-day of discussions all about farming and fungi! This inaugural event solely about MUSHROOMS filled up in two days after registration opened, with a waiting list. People joined us from as far away as Armstrong, Revelstoke and Naksup.
