The Shuswap Food Action Co-op is screening Feeding Ourselves at the Salmar Classic theatre on Friday March 23 at 7pm. It’s a documentary on the Kooteney’s movement towards regional food sovereignty. Feeding Ourselves weaves intimate stories from the hopes and convictions of West Kootenay farmers and producers as they navigate undercurrents of uncertainty with our food system. Compelled by the deep interest in our local foodshed demonstrated most recently and enthusiastically by our community this spring at the Farm Food Fork events, we embarked on an ambitious film project documenting the food-scape as it is, with the people in our community on the ground: the farmers, advocates, producers, retailers, politicians, chefs and processors.
