2021 WAGE SUBSIDY PROGRAMS FOR FARMS Are you a farm looking for a wage subsidy to hire labour? Here are several federally and regionally-funded programs to consider. Make sure to read the eligibility requirements carefully, as some subsidies are not allowed to be combined with others. Youth Employment and Skills Program for Agriculture The Youth Employment and Skills Program provides a wage subsidy to employers who hire youth (age 15-30 inclusive when the internship started) for agricultural jobs. Small and medium-sized businesses are vital to British Columbia’s economy. The Small and Medium-Sized Business Recovery Grant program provides fully-funded grants to businesses to ensure they have the support they need during and beyond COVID-19. How the program works The Small and Medium-Sized Business Recovery Grant program will invest up to $300 million in targeted financial support for some of the hardest hit businesses in B.C. that employ between two and 149 B.C. residents and have experienced declines in revenue since March 10, 2020. Grants of $10,000 to $30,000 are available. The Investment Agriculture Foundation is accepting applications for the Emergency On-Farm Support Fund. The program assists agricultural producers with some of the incremental costs for improving the health and safety of farm workers and limiting the spread of COVID-19 in agricultural operations. The program will provide up to $100,000 per recipient in non-repayable, cost-shared funding. Applications must include at least $5,000 in total eligible costs to be considered for the program.
