Young Agrarians is celebrating the eleventh year of the Business Mentorship Network (BMN) program in BC and the third year of the program in the Prairies! The BMN offers farm business mentorship to a diverse array of new and young farmers. The mentorship is offered over the course of a year. Through one-on-one mentorship, peer networks and online workshops new farmers develop the skills necessary to operate ecologically sustainable and financially viable farm businesses. The deadline for Mentee applications for the 2025 cohort has been extended to Nov 15th, 2024. Lockwood Farms is looking to hire a strapping lad or lass who knows how to swing an axe! We’re looking for that ‘farm kid’, who gets dirty to get a job done. The work will include, but is not limited to: seeding, weeding, planting, constructing crop supports and covers, installing irrigation, tractor driving, ploughing, rototilling, light excavation, cleaning and organizing work areas, mucking out, power washing and disinfecting, feeding chickens, installing chicken equipment, collecting eggs, following and implementing bio-security measures, harvesting, prepping for market, egg washing and grading, and serving customers who arrive on the farm. 40hrs a week.
