Jennica Taylor is one of the apprentices who joined the 2023 cohort of the Young Agrarians Apprenticeship Program (YAAP) on the Prairies. YAAP is a full immersion initiative that pairs aspiring farmers with host farms to gain skills and knowledge on how to manage their own farms someday. Notes from the Field: Jacob Ulickij – Good Notes Community Farm

This season, a new cohort joined the Young Agrarians Apprenticeship Program for immersive, hands-on learning experiences with mentor farmers across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.  Jacob Ulickij is an apprentice at Good Notes Community Farm  in New Sarepta, Alberta, a community of gardeners, gleaners, and pastured chicken tenders. The future of food systems lies in the hands of our next generation of farmers — but what do we do when our future farmers don’t have access to land? Young Agrarians (YA) hopes to offer solutions that will bridge the gap between landholders and land seekers with two Land Linking Workshops coming to Leduc County later this year.   These online workshops are being modelled off of the YA B.C.
