Background information

Organic agriculture is growing fast and that is a good thing! However that also means that the organic movement is evolving. While this is true for all actors in the food sector, this research project focuses on organic producers. Why choose to produce food organically? It is well known that there is a wide range of motivations. But sometimes it seems difficult or even impossible to fulfills all those needs as they can be contradictory! The purpose of this research is to identify motivations for farming organically in Canada and better understand the potential conflicts between social, environmental and business values.
