Summerhill Pyramid Winery in Kelowna, BC is seeking a Garden Manager!
We are looking for an individual or individuals who are experienced market gardeners to manage the Culinary Gardens on-site at Summerhill Pyramid Winery. This is a full-time position. Depending on the skillset of the individual this could be a seasonal position or year-round.
Desired Qualifications
Resume should include: Gardening/farming education, experience and skills as well as knowledge or passion for Biodynamics, Permaculture, Biodiversity, and the Organic Farming movement. Tractor driving experience and some carpentry skills are helpful but not a must.
Job Tasks
The position includes training and overseeing the work and reporting hours of part time employees. The Garden Manager will be responsible for seeding and nursery work, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, irrigating, succession planting, composting, compost tea, mulching, rolling out nutrient programs and disease and pest controls for a multitude of different fruits, herbs and vegetables we grow for the bistro. The Bistro would also like to see fresh sheets at least a week ahead for anticipated harvests. There is more to it, but this is a general description.
The garden Manager will be working with and reporting to Biodynamicist Gabe Cipes and F&B Director Jeremy Luypen for direction, planning and maintenance of the gardens, as well as collaboration on new projects as they arise. Good communication skills are a must.
